Working on downloading it (which will take a while here in EG). A friend of mine convinced me to give it a try.

I enjoyed the story modes for each of the classes. The space combat missions, while somewhat repetitive, were pretty fun as well. The crafting was pretty well done with the ability to use your minions to gather materials and craft for you. I liked how they implemented researching new recipes. If I could find my authenticator I'd likely still be playing here and there, but it's buried somewhere in my storage unit.

Some of the moral choice options were a little strange. If you want a character that is fully light/dark side, I recommend turning on the tooltip that warns you which points you get for which option. Some of the options that I thought would go one way ended up giving me points for the other.

I plan on identifying the Dark Side choice by choosing whichever option seems most likely to result in me punching a baby.

That's exactly what I'm referring to. There were several times I can remember on my Sith Warrior where I chose an option that seemed to be pretty selfish and had an overall Sithy nature and ended up with light side points out of it. Overall it's not too big of a deal but some gear requires that you have a certain level of Light/Dark side points. There are ways to farm it through the crafting missions though if you find yourself a little bit shy of what you need.

Hmmmm... by "crafting missions" do you mean turning ewok skulls into drinking mugs?

I'm not sure if that would give you light side or dark side points. I mean, yeah you're slaughtering a defenseless race of cute fuzzy creatures but at the same time you're getting rid of the ewoks.

Now slaughtering the gunguns, that's decidedly a light side option.

That's over 9000 light side points.

First Impressions:

The Good - The story aspect of the game seems to be very well written and I think that, in and of itself, will be enough to keep me interested for at least a little bit.

The Bad - As with just about every other MMO I've ever played the NPCs not reacting when I kill their brother-in-arms / friend, clearly within sight of them, drives me out of my mind. Also, my actions not actually having any affect on the game world itself is a major bummer. I hate that the "insert object" I just destroyed and the "insert NPC group" I just killed almost instantly respawn.

Go play a single player game that does that stuff, then. An MMO that allowed for object and scenery destruction would have the surface contours of a neutron star (<5mm tall mountains) inside a week.

You could do it if you made an MMO that was pretty much entirely phased content, but that would be a massive headache to design.

I was referring to objects such as "signal jamming station" being destroyed and then repairing itself a few moments later for the next player to destroy, not destruction of the actual game world.

And it is part of the reason I don't normally play MMOs for very long. Of course, I also don't really play single player games at all anymore. Basically I just don't play games very much anymore.

I just have trouble with the suspension of disbelief when it comes to an NPC requesting my character doing this really, really important thing that will save/kill all the Bothans. Then, when I complete said task, nothing in the game actually changes beyond me getting some credits, experience, and moving on to the next super, super important world changing task that doesn't actually change anything.

I thought this one was supposed to do it as well, but from my dabbling with WoW, I remember it having at least some progressive instances. Say you lay siege to a town in one quest, then everyone who's on it gets copy of that version of the town, then a destroyed version of it as you move on, etc., whereas someone walking up for the first time sees a normal town.

I did my first "random group" last night. Not sure if that is the correct term for them in SWTOR or not, but it is what I'm going with for the moment.

It was fun, and the story made sense, felt very much like Star Wars, and made me want to actually complete it.

One quick question though, the next time I do a random group, will it pick up where that one left off? Or are there a set number of scenarios available that repeat themselves?

I'm not sure I understand your question. I'm going to guess that you are talking about doing a LFG type thing for the 5-man content, correct?

Yeah, although it was a 4 man group. It seemed to be a group that you would sign up to take part in and then continue on with whatever you are doing while the game searches for matching team members in the background.

Once an appropriate group is found, a pop-up comes on the screen letting you accept of reject the invitation.

I enjoyed the game all right, but ultimately it wasn't what I was looking for so I stopped logging in. I heard it went Free-to-play? I did enjoy how they did crafting, but that's about it.

Yeah, it's F2P. Seems to be the norm lately in games. Rift is going F2P in June. I may play that on and off at that point. Assuming my bard isn't neutered.
