Glass breaks sounds pretty immediate in this one.

Hmmmm.. you are right Mish. In the initial reports I read, people were definitely making it sound like there was enough of a delay for them to run over to windows after the initial explosion. Which I figured accounted for, at least in part, why so many people were injured.

The video I saw they were recording as it went across the sky. Then boom, and immediately after was the glass shattering and the car alarms. Every other video I saw was from too far away or had no audio on the recording. Got to love the prevalence of dash cams over in Russia.

Oh I know. I was curious why it seemed like everyone had them. Looking into it I found 3 reasons. Drivers there are nuts, the traffic cops are generally considered one of the most corrupt organizations around, and lots of pedestrians apparently decided to try the whole "throw myself on your hood and then sue you for damages" scam. It just seemed weird at first because I kept seeing these dash cam videos of car crashes all over the place on Youtube.

Yeah, I thought the same thing a while back as well, just because there's so many "crazy driving incident" videos online from Russia.

In the late 90's I met the paleontologist who had a TV show on the Discovery Channel (I think). It was at the opening of the Discovery Channel Store in D.C. Anyways, he was kind of a dick. I asked him about dinosaurs and birds and he gave a 3 or 4 word answer.

The guy is also on the Jurassic Park Sega CD Game since all those games had to have FMV.

I like the rung/ladders analogy. I'm probably going to steal that one.

This is very interesting. In 5 years we will have smart phones with 512GB flash storage.

Still won't be able to carry large raster datasets into the field in their raw forms. I await further, further developments.
