I don't remember making any comments regarding Forbidden. I don't know who she is nor have I seen any pictures of her. Nor will I go digging for them, I too have no interest in the pornstar look. I was just inferring a double standard. The comment itself was a reference to an old Mad TV sketch and one I've made bef....oh hell, nevermind.

Sorry, I've seen almost no MadTV. I hear I'm missing out or something, but I can't be bothered to turn the damn thing on. Except for Heroes.

Oh, and to play my gamecube.

I got 57% Of course that might have to do with the fact that I couldn't care less if they are real or fake, as long as they look good.

as long as they feel real and look good I couldn't care less. Now if they feel like "a bag of sand" I might have issues with it.

Also I prefer my girls to not be flat as a wall or in this case a Wii.

Back on topic. The other launches just happened and Wii has exploded. I wonder how accurate those numbers are. If I remember correctly earlier they had wii at 750k after NA launch, but then lowered it back down to 400kish.

Either way, they're doing well right out of the gate it would seem.

They are, but I imagine PS3 orders are pretty backed up.

My feeling is this: that crazy-ass Wiimote is revolutionary rather than evolutionary. That said, it stands to reason that the Wii is getting all sorts of attention. All the PS3 is is a PS2 that shows more polygons and has a Blu-Ray player in it, and the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD war is far from over. Sony lost big on the Betamax fiasco, so I'd say they are either stupid or in the know about something in order to put all their eggs in one basket like that. As for the 360, it's a solid performer and a solid seller, and it has a solid head start. Who cares? I'm just happy to see Nintendo regaining the ground it lost with the GameCube. I'm also happy to see Sony (double-dealing DRM bastards) get spanked in the marketplace.

Um....the PS3 controller is motion sensitive. And it's being used on more than just one game, contrary to what I expected. The only difference that I experienced was the shape. I actually like the PS3's better because I want the option of playing with or without that feature, whereas with the Wii every game seems to require it. I don't want to get a full workout every time I want to play a game. I don't want to look exactly like I did when I was 4 and played games for the first time. Just wait a bit, it took the PS2 a while before the really good games started coming out, and it didn't disappoint(sane and rational players anyway). I don't care how well one does over the other, especially a couple weeks out of launch. The only reason PS2 wasn't tanked when it launched is because it was the only system to launch at the time. If the Wii had been launched at the same time as the 360, I'm sure the 360 would have been owned. But it doesn't matter because they're both great consoles. As is the PS3, and I can say that from personal experience finally. Still not getting one until they have a better selection, but it's a very solid experience. I think all three consoles are equally fun.

Here's another thought: Microsoft lost a lot of money on the Xbox(they are actually still in the red, they charged less for the system than was feasible for the cost of design and manufacture). They are losing money on the 360(same deal). This was their expectation. Microsoft has the money to blow. They aren't expecting to make a profit in the industry until about ten years down the road, these systems were intended just to get their foot in the door of the console market. Sony is still the brand leader with units sold and profits made over both Xbox and the Gamecube combined. But I believe Microsoft will defeat them before too long. I wish NEC would sneak up and give us a supersystem that proves superior and cheaper than all three, like they did with the TG-16. But they were intimidated by the spanking they took in the market, they weren't forward thinking enough. Cowards.

Do you have a link to back that up? Units sold is a no-contest, but profit I'm not so sure of. I'm pretty sure the games division for both Sony and Microsoft operate at a loss.

http://psp.ign.com/articles/721/721539p1.html

Quote:
The group's operating loss sunk to 26.8 billion yen ($2.32 billion) from last year's loss of only 5.9 billion yen ($51.1 million).

They credit the large loss to ramp up costs of the PS3, but even so, they still lost 51 million the year before(2004-2005).

I personally don't think either company has any plans to be profitable in the game market... especially in the short term. Both are products used to force other things on you. Microsoft wants to be in your living room, and Sony wants you to buy movies on their format(As well as sell TVs, Sound systems, etc).

^ what he said

That's why I'm rooting for Nintendo on this one. They're the only honest game outfit in the bunch.

I disagree with both of you. Games are games. As for trying to "force other things on you", I think you're going to have to back that up with some serious facts, because I certainly haven't seen anything other than games enter my home. Blu-Ray movie discs are an inevitability, and not owned by Sony. They're just one of the big fish on the board, and just happened to get a player on U.S. shores faster than everyone else with the PS3. In any case, all of my systems will be in the living room. Even my 2600 yo! With Supercharger and Tapedeck!

This is a list of the Board of Directors who created and control Blu-Ray Disc Association:

Apple Computer, Inc.
Dell Inc.
Hewlett Packard Company
Hitachi, Ltd.
LG Electronics Inc.
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation
Pioneer Corporation
Royal Philips Electronics
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.
Sharp Corporation
Sony Corporation
Sun Microsystems, Inc.
TDK Corporation(They created the 200GB BD disc)
Thomson Multimedia
Twentieth Century Fox
Walt Disney Pictures
Warner Bros. Entertainment

The fact that these powerhouses created the company that created the format(and more are being invited to join) tells me HDDVD will be steamrolled through licensing just like DivX was. In any case, Sony is actually not the biggest fish on the block.

As for proof Sony is the current brand leader in gaming, I don't really need to provide links, anyone can find the data and see they have outsold both competitors so far(I'm not talking about the new consoles, I'm talking overall gaming sales of all consoles and products). They did make some very serious profit until the PS3. I don't, however, think it will last unless they change their marketing strategies before the next console emerges. Sony might be in trouble, I seriously doubt they will remain on top this time around, but that doesn't matter 'cause the games aren't going to stop being churned out. Which is all the reason I need. I could give a rat's ass about how Sony does business with their other products, I'm not going to hate on a good machine for irrelevancies.

Sony lost the Betamax not only because of bad marketing, but because consumers are retarded.

*edited for grammar and sentence structure.....hey, I was in a rush to get back to FF12. Trying to beat it so I can get back to playing my PC games.

*edited again for more sentence dumbass in my statement about sentence dumbass
