I downloaded TES4: Oblivion already. What are some other good games to download? I'm not looking for anything online or that's a wargame. I'm looking for the same genre as TES4O.

the ur-kwan masters... at least, i think that is what it is called. its sci-fi, but pretty open ended. oh, and it isn't first person. actually, its the free ware hack of star control 2, if you ever played that. turns out that the content was available for free, so some yahooligans got it, and wrote an emulator that would run it. then the interweb thinggy got a hold of it, and now it is everywhere.

edit: ah, it's one of those installs. I'll need to wait to get home to a faster connection.

I'm excited.

Very cool man, thanks. Star Control II was one of my favorite games ever, and I'm happy to be playing it again. Just wish I could remap the keys like I used to.

i found it very short, this time through. maybe i just have more patience. i mined and mined, and maxed out my ship really early on, and then did the same with lifeforms, with the trader guys, and then no one much else was much problem. it was still fun though.

I recall doing that back in the day, you know, the 2nd time through.

If you play with the idea that you just want to explore and do interesting stuff (like you did the 1st time through) then things don't go as well because you trigger events before you're totally prepared for them.

I'd forgotten how rough the graphics were back in the day. Is the spathi voice accurate? I remember it being better. I've probably just been slowly spoiled.

Also, I suck at combat now. It would help if I could get my old key layout, but mostly I've just got 13 years of rust on my SCII skillz. I may actually look for some kind of kernel mode keyboard remapper so that I can reassign the keys in windows. It really, really bugs me to use that default.
