As I've posted somewhere else, my wife & I got a gamecube lately. She's gaming with me on it, which is pretty sweet.

So far we've gotten:

Simpson's Hit & Run. definitely good. fun & great sense of humor. I don't think there's any multiplay, but its actually fun to just watch this one.

Lego Star Wars. Also good, fun multiplayer, humorous.

Kong. blech, returned it after 5 minutes of play. Didn't give it a fair chance perhaps.

Gauntlet Dark Legacy: Ok so far.

Alien Hominid. Funny side scrolling shooter. simultaneous 2 player, amusing weapons/attack modes and scenery. I'm reminded of Zim. Gets hard pretty quickly though.

Crash Bandicoot. Mneh. I'll keep it but it generates no excitement in me.

Mario Cart. A classic from an uber-franchise that requires no review from the likes of me.

Those are my 5-cent reviews. Does anyone have games to suggest for this platform?

In my opinion, the BEST game on GC is Super Smash Bros. Melee. My cousins, some of our friends, and I play that almost every weekend.

I'll third both of them, but give you a little more info...

Eternal Darkness is an interesting suspense/thriller game. I have a lot of respect for what they tried to do, but at the same time I think a little more polish would have done it well. Definitely a neat game though. Single player.

Smash Brothers Melee is like Mario Kart. You can play it solo and have some fun, but 2-4 players is where its really at. Its probably the closest thing to a game that will never ever ever get old. If a friend or two stops by we still pop it in.

Anything by Nintendo/Miyamoto is going to be good. They really just don't realease much crap. Mario Sunshine while not innovative or mind blowing is still one of the most solid platformers of this generation. Windwaker, while some will have their complaints is very solid also.

The company that devlopped Eternal Darkness (Silicon Knights) is located about 5mins from where I live, and the head artist is actually a cousin to a friend of mine, which is pretty cool.

As for the games, they're both great, but Smash Bros. never gets old, at least not in my opinion. I still love to sit down and battle it out with some friends now and then.

I shouldn't say anything I guess. They release a stinker here or there, but in general if you bought a cube, Nintendo made games are solid.

Windwaker is a great game. If you like it, Twilight Princess is coming out pretty soon and looks really good.

I like Zelda, but wasn't a big fan of Windwaker. I would definitly reccomend getting Smash bros Melee. I also liked Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, but only because i'm a sucker for farm girls >.>. Pikmin 2 and Mario Party (not 6!!!!!) are also fun.

My kids are currently working on Super Mario Sunshine. That is a different take on the standard Mario game. They also played Luigi's Mansion for a bit. I can't offer any review for either of those.

Smash Brothers Melee and Mario Kart Double Dash... even if you can't possibly enjoy a game for any reason, these two will change that for you. My wife and I play MKDD alot and the boys (9 and 7) are always trashing me in SBM all the time. I love those two games. Of the two though, I'd have to give Mario Kart the better game label.

Another great game is Super Mario Strikers. It's a soccer game with a Mario twist that is really quite fun. If you are a die-hard soccer player/fan who likes realism, don't even think of playing this game. Daisy is just so HAWT with a bare midriff and soccer shorts.

Isn't Daisy a little young Mojo?

A friend of mine hacked smash brothers with an action replay and some people on the action replay boards.
You can get 4 players + 2 computers, they added new items, and have the whole debug/dev menu open.

I have a gamecube but haven't placed it much. Mario Kart is of course good.
Has anyone played FF: Crystal Chronicals? I bought it but haven't even played it.

I'm going to check some of these out. My wife loves soccer, I don't know if she'd enjoy a cheesy version of it or not.

I'll try to find it used at Gamespot. They give you 7 days to return the used games and just get something else or store credit. You can take it to any gamespot, and for me this really reduces the anxiety of buying a game that we might not like.

Our gamecube was used too. Yay for teh cheapness!

Crystal Chronicles was good but not great in my opinion. I only played it four player style though. Having enough gameboys and cables to go around gets a bit pricey.

I think the idea is solid, the game itself was okay. I think future versions(Wii+DS maybe?) really have a lot of potential.

If you have more than one game boy advanced and a cube I'd also recommend Four Swords.

I picked up Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. It's a lot like the 1st one, but slightly better it seems. The stories are different, of course. They made small changes to the sounds, graphics are pretty identical. There is some more complexity in that you can drive around in vehicles, which is cool. I've driven a Land Speeder and an AT-ST so far, and have ridden a couple of animals.

They also have areas that are only accessible to Storm Troopers and areas accessible only to Bounty Hunters. Same kind of deal where in Free Play you can get to things that you cannot reach in Story mode.

There seems to be even more humor in this one.

I haven't played it a ton, so I don't have the full feel of it yet, but all in all I'd say it's a sequel with small tweaks. If you liked the first one, this is more of that.

Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast

Good so far. The controls are a bit complex for a console controller - I had better luck with the mouse & keyboard on the pc. Particularly having to use the direction pad to change items, weapons, and force powers means that I have to find a few moments of safety to get it done. Changing force powers mid battle seems difficult, and perhaps unwise.

Not to mention the difficulty of moving, aiming, and firing while holding the jump button. Who doesn't like to fly up 30 feet & unleash rockets at your foes down below? I find it too difficult to do. I'd need a 3rd thumb, I think.

I'm not very far into the single player mission yet because I'm stuck. I've been stuck once before, and I don't really care for that. Puzzle games frustrate/bore me pretty quickly, but some of you like that kind of thing I'm sure.

All in all I like it, even for $40.00 used. I guess they don't make them anymore & they're "rare".

$40 used? Damn, I think you got ripped off. It's been out since like '02. It should definitely be in the 10 dollar bin. Maybe the $20, it was a pretty decent game.

lego star wars II is great fun. though, i'm playing it on the ps2. its a cool mix of easy to just walk through, and hard to get all the bennys on. good stuff. so good, i couldn't get my wife to stop playing so i could play... and she isn't usually a gamer. i need to get a second controller so we can play at the same time.

I hear you Immyls. My wife didn't go to sleep until she beat the original Lego Star Wars... this says alot if you know my wife.

The kids have pretty much taken over the Classic though and I have yet to see it since they have the GC in their room (I can't wait for my house to get built).
