As long as I'm talking PC games, what's the skinny on NWN 2? I've read some stuff, but not nearly as much as I'd like probably. Its supposed to be out in Oct, which seems quick.

Anyone else looking forward to this one?

I hope it's not as big a letdown as NWN was.

NWN wasn't so much of a letdown for me. You have to realize that there's only so much you can do with a computer game and the interface is a big problem with some RP things.

Have you tried some of the NWvault modules that people have made or the custom content?

I kind of dug NWN. I dug the potential. I played enough of it to get my fill without digging too much into the modding stuff.

I thought it had potential, and hopefully some of that is met in a sequel.

I read some discussion of the new one having a castle building system which you then defend against raiding armies. I'm sure the reality will be much less than they hype, but it still sounds neat Very Happy

Dude, the whole point of that game was to play people's modules. The prepackaged nonsense was absolute crap. The stories in the expansions were a lot better, but still didn't hold a candle to some of the fan content. Personal Favorites: "A Hunt Through the Dark" series. "Elegia Eternum" and "Excrucio Eternum", "Necromancer Pt. 1:Allegiance", "Halo of Flies" and "Shadow from a Soul on Fire", "Bone Kenning:Art of the Thanaturge", "Shadowlords" "Dreamcatcher" and "Demon" series', the "Penultima ReRolled" series, "The Pig Farmer" and "The Turning", "Sodomy Jack", and I just realized I have too many favorites and not enough willpower to list them all. I also want to reinstall NWN and play all of them again, and not enough willpower for that either.

I just realized you probably meant doing your own module stuff. Oops. Nevermind then.

What disappointed me was that, being familiar with the D&D 3rd edition, I couldn't understand how so much got left out of it. The skill list was stripped and the utter lack of magical feats for magic item creation was deplorable.

To answer the accusation stick out tongue

If I remember correctly I played two of the expansions, had some fun doing my own stuff(albeit it just a litte), and probably did a little of the fan created stuff(Although I couldn't tell you which I played)

There were only two expansions, so I'd say you covered your OC bases.

They released a set of smaller ones too I believe. King maker? Witch something or other. Whatever they were, I never played them.

Those were just modules, not expansion packs. I haven't played them either because I've found that Bioware has gone retarded in their story writing department, and because I don't want to pay for them. *lightbulb....gets on eMule*

Sorry, guess I didn't notice the distinction while NOT buying it at the store.

Good decision, I say. I heard somewhere that BioWare had picked up the license to the Fallout franchise. It was either them or Blizzard. Either way......AWESOME! I would probably destroy a medium sized town to get another Fallout game. Unless it was like that crappy Xbox action title.

Some things have issues being translated into game time. Take the crafting example, how long does it take in game time to craft and how long does it take in NWN time? Yeah, some skills were missing, but they put in the ones that I think they felt should matter.

The original campaigns kind of suck compared to a lot of the stuff that people have made, which is what it's all about. They went and made an example for people to follow on making their own stories. Character exporting to play other stories is what it's all about.

Personally, I really don't have much fun playing it single player as I do playing it with friends. It was pretty hard to get into at times without Haven at his desk playing and giggling along.

Most of the stuff that I actually played through I played along with a friend. Maybe that made it better, I'm not sure. There were certain limitiations to the engine that bothered me, but for the most part I dug it.

While being somewhat familiar with the D&D rules that's one aspect of my nerdiness that's lacking, and in this case not knowing the real rules probably helped.

I guess Leedon's right, in a way. I really remember the feeling when 3rd edition came out. It was so sleek, so streamlined compared to 2nd edition. It just really seemed to us to be something that would translate very well into a computer format with all it's standardization. I can see that they brought in all teh stuff that seemed to really "matter," but that bothered me because all they brought over was really geared towards the combat. You get that in computer games, but it still bothered me a little.

Anyone else grab this one yet? Seems to have got lost in the hype of FF12. Sad

I got it but haven't had the chance to even install yet. Let you all know how it is later tonight when I get home from work.

I've got no plans to pick it up right now, but if we were thinking of doing a BeB type game I'd go grab it.

I don't know much about it. How much content does it come with? If there's something that'd be fun to do with a group that'd be cool.
