I'm sure there is a thread but I can't find it.

Started watching this today, and made it to episode 16. So far it's pretty awesome. Episode 16 is called "Deserter", did anyone else who watches catch the Apocalypse Now references?

Is that the one with the FIre Nation general who starts teaching Aang Firebending? I didn't catch the refrence to Apocalypse Now, what was it?

I"ve been watching this show with my kids ever since around the middle of the last season, it's definately worth watching. It has its kiddish moments but overall I think it's quite good.

Dante Basco is the voice of the prince. Better known as Rufio from the movie Hook.

*********SPOILERS*********

In retrospect I should have expected an ending sort of like that, it's the typical pattern of three-part stories (each season is a part). I think I was hoping for another "Siege on the North" type finale but set in Ba Sing Se.

That rocks so hard that Toph can now Earthbend smelted metal. The impression I got was that she was sensing the impurities that the smelting process didn't get out and was bending that way. That whole scenen was awesome.

I imagine the first episode of the next season will be dealing with their dispair over waht happenned and figuring out what to do next. Azula needs to really get her ass kicked. In the fight underground with Katara and Aang, she did get put on the defensive a few times. She's not as all powerful as she claimed.

I hope Zuko realizes the error of his ways and turns his back on Azula, but it will be really hard to earn Aang's group's trust now.

While I absolutely adore the show, they just don't give you enough. Maybe I've just gotten used to anime where they can drag things out forever and ever, but Avatar just proceeds at a breakneck pace. Events like Zuko's decision in the finale and underneath Lake Laogai or Saaka reuniting with his father are robbed of their gravitas by how little time they're given to develop.

***Spoilers/Sort of Spoilers***

Was the Avatar state broken/Aang defeated because he couldn't let go of Katara or because Azula zapped him?

Yup, Toth pretty much owned in that part.

Now they'll have to go back and have Boomi decide that it's time to stop waiting and strike in some grand fashion.

So will it be Iroh or Zuko that trains Aang to firebend?

Hopefully I'll get to see the last 40 minutes today sometime. The thunderstorms cut out my satelite signal.

Because Azula zapped him. Why he spent so much time making such a grand entrance is beyond me. If he had just emerged and started kicking butt he would've won.

I still think Zuko will teach him. I don't understand at all why Azula is being nice to her brother. That whole affair stinks. I'm thinking that maybe she's just playing the same game she played in the first episode of the season, when she tried to trick him and her uncle to come back to the fire nation. She'll turn over Zuko and Iroh the traitors, and earn even more points with dad. Once Zuko realizes this he'll realize he made a mistake and make amends.

Although I do like the idea of Iroh teaching Aang, he is quite knowledgable.

If he had listened to yoda er I mean the guru, he would have instantly gone into avatar state. instead he had to open the last gate which took meditation.

Speaking of Yoda, what ever happened to the Star Wars TV show that was supposed to be coming out?

Awesome, I can't wait. Zuko better stop being stupid and become good, though I'm still pretty confident that Iroh will train Aang in firebending. Zuko isn't exactly a master, and wouldn't do nearly as good a job in my opinion.

Although if Book/Season 3 is Fire, what major plot twist will we need to see a Book/Season 4 of Wind?
