You beat me to it, but I agree. I think it's my favorite Avatar episode.

Hey, Book 3 Vol. 1 is on DVD since Oct. 30th. Anyone else been watching it? I love Avatar and I had never seen this thread until now. The first 5 episodes of Book 3 are awesome. I didn't get to see the preview (I'm at work) but I'm assuming you were talking about the tai-chi sword that Sokka now has? Not a katana, tai-chi swords are chinese and were built to counter a katana.

Ya see? Straight blade, handle only supports being held by one hand. Katanas have the curved blade to have a smaller surface area of the blade make contact to make it easier to cut through something. They are held with two hands for a powerful swing. A tai-chi sword is a little longer and only held with one hand so that the arm can extend for a longer reach than the katana has. They are often known to have very thin, folded steel blades that make them more ductile. They will bend elastically when struck by a katana, so they will not be as easily broken by a katana. They are known for this because tai-chi swords will vibrate in the air while they are being swung and will "sing" like a crystal glass when you run your finger along the edge. As I said above, they were built by the chinese specifically to defeat the Japanese sword wielders by being able to quickly stab a samaurai while staying out of reach of katana. Hence the straight blade that is not as good for slashing, it was built to stab. *End of derailment
If you guys haven't been watching this, it's time you went to the store and bought it, LIKE NOW!

I have no doubt that detail was intentional.

HOLY CRAP! I just watched The Puppetmaster. What an incredible episode. I'm impressed at the concept they introduced for waterbenders.

BTW, has anyone else noticed that Mark Hamill does the voice of Firelord Ozai?

Japanese culture makes it's debut in Nightmares and Daydreams. I'm a little disappointed.

Episodes 10 and 11 have been on the internet for "some time" now according to Wikipedia. It's part 1 and 2 of the invasion during the eclipse. I downloaded and watched them last night. Puppetmaster is still the better episode but at least these episodes manage to move the plot forward. It definately has it's cool moments.

And I hate Azula. Her character is just too much.

Yeah, I was definetly glad for the plot to move forward now that I've seen them. Yeah, Azula is a little too evil to be believable, but then again, so is Firelord Ozai.

2 (or 4 if you're following Nickelodeon airing only, or 6 if you're really behind) new episodes are available on the interweb now.

3x10 Day of Black Sun I: Invasion
3x11 Day of Black Sun II: Eclipse (broadcast in U.S.)
3x12 The Western Air Temple
3x13 The Firebending Masters (broadcast in Canada/U.K.)
3x14 The Boiling Rock I
3x15 The Boiling Rock II (from a soon to be released DVD)

Apparently they'll be picking things up July 14 and airing the final ten episodes of the series? starting with "The Western Air Temple".

Yesterday I was angry to discover that the Burning Rock episodes were also available because I thought I had missed those airings. I wish Nick would hurry up and air the series already. At the rate their going, I'll have seen it all on my computer before they start airing again.

Just got myself caught up on this series again, starting from the beginning of book 3. I thought it would have finished by now, but obviously that's not the case...wonder what the hold-up's been? In any case I'm happy with the direction things are headed, and am in the process of downloading The Boiling Rock parts 1 and 2 to watch. Can't wait to finally see them wrap this series up.

I thought I saw some advertisments for this in Nick like they were going to start airing them again, I went to the Nick sight which suck and has no new information. I am just wondering if I was seeing thing or if any of you have noticed or know anything about this.

I believe they will start airing again this week, starting with "The Western Air Temple."

Holy crap the series finale was awesome. I think it ended exactly the way it needed to, though it did end up ignoring some of the plot elements from earlier episodes to do so.

The firebenders during Sozen's comet were pretty bad ass.

I liked it. Yobun and I were talking about it later and he wanted more information in a few areas. I was happy with it.
