Pretty much my deal after the few hours of time necessary to beat resistance. I should still probably get it now since I have the means. By the time all the good games are out, I doubt I'll have as easy a time affording one.

More of the same. PS3's not selling.

I was playing one again today at Best Buy, and I have to reiterate that I think it rapes the 360. And I rather like the 360.

I've grown kinda anti-PS3. Not rabidly so, just sick of that limited release crap. And since it costs 50% more than an already overpriced Microsoft product, it had damn well better outperform.

I might get one when there are titles I give a damn about, and the price comes down some. Like $300.

There's no doubt that PS3 performs, I just don't think it's worth the asking price, especially given the titles available at this time. When Metal Gear Solid 4, and Final Fantasy XIII come out it'll be a different story, but chances are I will still hold out on getting one until some kind of price drop happens.

That's the only system I'm interested in right now, especially with Smash Bros. Brawl coming out this year.

I think its worth the asking price simply for the Blu-Ray, and Blu-Ray players are 400 bucks alone(so you get a game system and a BR player for cheaper than both of them separately). Of course, in about three years BR players will be as cheap as DVD players are now, and the PS3 will still be the same price. So it is more worth the price now than it will be later. Regardless whether you care about BR, if you want to own a PS3 eventually, I think you're better off getting one sooner rather than later by economic principle. Of course, economic principle isn't why anyone wants to play video games.

I'm definitely not interested in Blu-Ray, I couldn't care less. I want it for the games, but it's not like I'm desperate for something to play, between FFXI and other things (including the fabled 'real life'). I have no problem waiting for a price drop, but that's just me.

My point was that there will never be a significant price drop. The value of the system is higher at the moment than it will be later. Even the old gen systems are still nearly as expensive as they were when they came out. I can't get one this month anyway, I'm having my exhaust repaired which is almost as expensive.

Other way around here, and my sentiments are likewise the other way around.

I have a question about the PS3: What's the speed and format of the 60 GB HD, and how feasible would it be to upgrade it to a 150 GB Western Digital 10,000 RPM Raptor?

A smart man, faced with piles of Wii's for sale and a small community of rabid fans who want them, would find a way for he and they to mutually benefit.

Should be pretty easy to upgrade, then, I would think. Does it use a standard HDD controller?

SATA: Serial Advance Technology Attachment. When you look inside the case of a computer made before, say, 2002, you'll see this big ass thick plastic ribbon. On this ribbon are thin rectangular plugs(which used to be called Standard ATA, but now it's called Parallel). The ribbon is connected to the motherboard and the power supply. You plug your hard disk and NICs and other cards into the plugs on the ribbon. With SATA, that ribbon is replaced by a very thin group of wires that end in a very small connector, about 1\10th the size of PATA's, and SATA has a much faster transfer rate.

And a 10KRPM WD Raptor reduces seek times. That's a pretty hard combination to beat.
