Definitely one of the best plots I've seen in a long while. The characters are well presented, the animation is superb (if you've seen HNG, it's kinda like that, but much more realistic), and every episode is well constructed, leaving you with the taste of "more" in your mouth.
I recommend, and I don't do that often. Also, it's only on episode 10 out of 37. It's following the manga exactly as it's been published... and uh, there's two movies out for DeathNote (I haven't seen them, so I do not know if they're pertaining to actual series itself, but I do know that they both hit the #1 movie on the charts in Japan). _________________

What does "HNG" stand for? Also, where'd you see it? Some of my friends at school have read the manga(but of course they're too "lazy" to lend it to me), but I haven't heard anything about a DeathNote anime. ^^; _________________

Akuma is right, HNG = Hikaru No Go (an amazing older series anime).
If you feel like it, you can download the anime through bittorrent at http://www.live-evil.org/.
Or, you could just watch it on Youtube if you don't feel like being a pirate. _________________

Yeah, usually I abbreviate Hikaru no Go as Hikago. :p And, uh, maybe I'll check it out... it'll probably be YouTube, though; not because I don't want to be a pirate, but BitTorrent hates my computer. Seriously. _________________

I like where your mind's at. Too bad we don't call it ninjaing though. On the other hand, it doesn't quite roll off the tongue. _________________ "The cheese stands alone." - Madhatte |

My friend at school was raving about it to me at lunch... so I started borrowing the manga series from her(hooray for my lover, Tristan!). I actually like it a lot. Ooh, especially the art 'cause it's by Takeshi Obata. :) I'll admit, the first time I saw Ryuk, I was like, "HOLY CRAP WTF IS THAT!!" lol (On a side note, before I read it, my friend Julia told me that she and our friend Davian saw a commercial for some live action version...and they thought Ryuk was "cute." Yes, shinigami can be cute, apparently... my friends aren't crazy, that's my job...) Aside from the art and quality, it raises some interesting question in my head. Or, it's very neat to see where Light takes his course with Interpol/NPA's investigation of Kira. Or the way he hides the notebook. Most of that I would've never thought of. o_o; Can't wait to borrow volume 3 from Tristan. ^_^d _________________

Not that waiting for the legit version would be terribly long I imagine given the turn quick turn around from licensing announcment to product of hot properties of late, but seeing as how live-evil has dropped this, does anyone know a new fansub group that is doing it currently? _________________ Purring pocket pincher pilfers plenty of pretty prizes. |

Dubbed will suck, it doesn't even really need to be said. In any case, I don't know the group that subs it, I just look it up on YouTube every week, usually up on Wednesday nights. _________________ "The problem with quotes on the Internet is the validity of them." -Abraham Lincoln |

Live-evil seems to be the group that subs the one I am watching. _________________ "People really don’t like to hear success explained away as luck — especially successful people. I used to get my Death Note from them, but they stopped subbing after episode 13 because Viz(?) licensed it. _________________

Yea, I just noticed that. Light reminds me of me in certain ways... like, REALLY reminds me of me in certain ways; kinda creepy. _________________ "People really don’t like to hear success explained away as luck — especially successful people. The movie ending is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy+1 better than the anime/manga's ending. _________________

Possible spoilers.

Now I simply must see the movies. I just finished the anime, and although I am upset with the conclusion, I still feel it ended the way it should have, the way I expected it would. It was a tale told from the perspective of the villain, but otherwise was a classic struggle between good and evil. It couldn't have ended any other way, especially given that control freaks tend to break down into little bitches when they lose control. But I would love to see a different ending, this one bummed me out to no end. _________________ "The cheese stands alone." - Madhatte |
