Ok, I'm a little confused about what series actually exist.
There's GitS the movie, GitS 2: Innocence, GitS SAC, and GitS SAC 2nd Gig, right? Is that it? And, is 2nd Gig the second season of GitS SAC or are there 2 seasons of GitS SAC, and 2nd Gig is a separate series?

I'm trying to figure out which DVD's go where in their universe.

GitS: The Movie and Innocence are the same universe. SAC and 2ng Gig (second season of SAC) is another separate universe. There is another movie comming out soon that continues the SAC universe as well.

Ghost in the Shell is also set in alternate timelines in the various manga series. If the new movie is set in the current SAC version, then that will be the first time they have attempted continuity. I haven't seen Innocence. Is it worth a purchase?

So I have watch most of this streaming on Netflix because I wanted to watch it completely but the Second gig I had to watch on disc... the Techcoma (how ever it's spelled) skits are pretty cute, puts a spin on an otherwise serious anime.

I needed someone to point this out to me, because I refused to watch them. The shorts in season 1 were the Tachcomas in "heaven" after they died. Not sure about the ones in 2nd gig.

My favorite show ever, btw. I see something new every time I watch it and I''ve seen both series many, many times.

I didn't think it was heaven, I thought it was their time when syncing together. Remember they were to collectively learn from each others experiences during their time in action to make them better and more responsive. The personalities were a "defect" if you will.
