Well, I played an RTS long ago called Total Annihlation, and it was amazing. Well another game by the same creator is finally coming out.

It's called Supreme Commander. Has anyone ever heard of it before? It looks awesome, and I know ill be wasting many hours of mine on it.

It is supposedly a sequel to Total Annihilation. I never played TA Kingdoms, but I heard it was disappointing. TA was probably my favorite RTS of all time.

There's a thread for this is games general too.

I tried to download the demo, but it's 1G at 20kb/sec. 14 hours.

I made a last minute run to the game stores, but they're closed. Target doesn't have it (or a clue).

Curses! Foiled again!

Just tried out the Demo. I like it. Resourcing is similar to Dawn of War, and I do love the massive zoom levels.

I'm prepared to assume that. It would be criminally stupid of them to neglect that aspect in todays market.

I'll have to wait, I just dropped on Far Cry Instincts Predator, FEAR Extraction Point and Warhammer Mark of Chaos.

I like what I've seen, but honestly that's very little. The zoom thing is great. Some of the UI is an improvement, some of it not. I'm hopeful that I will like it overall, but let me play some more before I say too much.

I got this today. I am quite disappointed (not by the game) but my computer can't run it that great. Looks like I need to make a few upgrades before I play it...

It is kind of a resource hog.

My gameplay is very smooth, but sometimes it gets glitchy when I pause or when I'm in some other "make a menu selection" limbo while the game is actually running. That probably wasn't clear. It doesn't happen going into a game (when there is presumably less going on, rendering-wise) but when I'm coming out of one.

No gameplay trouble though. I'm running a Dell Lattitude D820 with a duo-core 1.6, 2G ram, and... I forget, but a pretty shit-hot video card. 512M?

While cool, I have to say it doesn't grip me and refuse to let go they way a new game normally would. I'm still just getting into it, but it's not like I can't save in the middle of mission, put a disparaging post on BEB, and go to bed.

The games are going longer than I'm accustomed to for an RTS, though I never played TA and it's possible that I'm just being pokie or too conservative. I finished the 2nd (Aeon) mission in something like 2 hrs 45 minutes. The debrief said that this was "half the expected time." I don't know if they just say that no matter how long you take or what, but if they meant that... sheesh.

It's, you know, neat I guess. I'm not going to stop playing or anything, but whatever. Meh.

I reserve the right to change my mind and declare supreme awesomeness later. As always, I'm looking forward to multiplay.

So it doesn't live up to it's parent's greatness? That sucks. Because TA was the shiznite. Definitely one of my favorites.
