/rant

So there is a chance I could move Again.
I have an interview with L3 Communications to work as a DOD contractor in Hampton Roads on Monday. I am very very excited about the interview.
They selected someone with more experience at first but that fell through for them so they called me back. I already did a phone interview but will go for the in person interview on Monday.

The bad thing is they need someone to fill the open position asap so I would have to move if they offered it to me.

I asked how many other people are being interviewed and he said something such as "If your interview goes well there is no need to interview other candidates".
(Since they interviewed a month ago anyways I guess I was 2nd on their list).

The job would be mid-60s with very good full benefits and I would be processed for a TS clearance. They would get me an interim secret to start working there.

The job in Richmond is a dead end. Out of around 25 employees only 4 are state employees so there is no chance of getting to be a state employee with benefits and retirement. Plus I do not think I will be able to get the experience I wanted out of this job. It will be more data entry and simple GIS tasks.

This is one of those opportunities that comes up only once in your career. I would have to take it and move even though I just started here 4 days ago. Especially with GIS a TS job is rare but it would set me up for the rest of my life and career. With a job like this I could actually retire when I am 65.

I could even get a house. I would probably make more then my parents combined.

I am going crazy right now with all the moving, the new job and other crap.

/end rant

I'm not sure that's a question. Are you asking how many live there? I think many of us have lived there, but few(if any) are still there. I have another good buddy named Ren that still lives there. He can hook you up with some decent nightlife.

Ex, you may have just moved and just taken this job. However if this new job prospect is really that awesome, then take it by all means bud! Why pass up an opportunity of a lifetime, when people are shit on everyday.

And CFS.....you pimp you....hahahah

I still live near Hampton Roads, Ex. Though I'm afraid if your looking for nightlife options I wouldn't be the best help, my nightlife is spent bathing 1 year olds and pampering a newborn. haha

Anyway, I could find some stuff out for you though, my sister-in-law is 20 and works at the oceanfront, I'm sure she could give me the latest hot spots.

There were some nice places to live in Hampton, that's where I lived when I was stationed there 6 years ago. I never got involved with the "nightlife" though. At the time I was in Ryken's shoes.

You will find that just having the TS clearance is valuable. Companies have to pay a pretty penny to get that, so a candidate that's already cleared is in demand.

I'm thinking about trying to get transfered to a new plant up in Beloit, Wisconsin. It is only about 2 hours outside of Chicago, my company would pay for it, and I would get a pay raise out of it.

Yeah, but you'd still be 2 hours into the rest of Illinois.

They're putting a plant in in Beloit? I'm surprised I haven't heard about it. My mom lives there and will hound me non-stop if she finds out about that. If you want to live in Beloit, you better have a gun. Beloit, WI is in the top 10 most dangerous places to live. Trust me, I know.

Yeah, the statistics didn't look real good for it. If I do end up transfering there I'll probably live somewhere south or south-east of it.

Of course I live about 15 minutes away from the number one most dangerous city in the United States, East St. Louis, right now.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine in Baltimore. Be careful going to the VA hospital there.

Actually taxes are cheaper in Wisconsin. You'd be better off liviing in Janesville (10 miles north) or just on the northern edge of Beloit. My mom lives on the northern edge of town and it's pretty quiet out there.

I applied for two jobs at the plant up in Beloit today. One's an instrument tech and the other's an operations tech.

Well I got all my stuff together to become a Certified Substitute Teacher. And it looks like my first day will be Thursday and in an English Class. I hope I do well. Anyway if all goes well I will be subbing for a (Math) teacher who is going to go on Maternity Leave in early November and it will be steady work for 6 weeks. I am very happy right now.
