I'd really like to use the DDI stuff from WotC. The map builder and character builders in particular. Unfortunately, I still only have my MacBook and the utilities are Windows only. If I could find my old XP cd, I'd put that on here as a dual boot, but so far I still can't locate which storage box it went into.

Does it seem to anyone else that character progression is super fast in this edition? After 2 sessions, my guys went from 1st to 4th level. I'm doing the whole XP budget thing and I think I may be setting it to high. There's 4 people in the group, and I'm setting the XP values for a 5 person group that's 2 levels higher than them. I don't really want to make it easier, because I don't think I've really challenged them yet as it is. Does the progression taper off at some point or should I just not give out as much XP as what the encounter calls for?

Wowzah! Level 4 after two sessions? Either your sessions are nearly a full day long or your players aren't being challenged by the encounters you set. I say that because in the games I have run or played in, the players usually got to level 2 after two sessions. Our sessions were maybe 3 hours each I think.

There is an optional rules in the DMG that talks about limiting the experience point output from your encounters I believe. The standard concept is a full level after 10 encounters... whether they be combat or skill or whatever.

I actually figured out what I did wrong. When I told them the total experience for the second session's encounters, I forgot to divide it by the number of players, so they essentially got quadruple exp for that night. I think I'll just let them keep it and scale up the rest of the campaign.

Nope. Let em get through the end of the campaign, level drain them, frag all their eq, and have the end boss capture them and turn them into slaves.

forced necrophilia? I'd rather not start incorporating Rule 34 into my D&D campaigns.

Is there such a thing unforced necrophilia? Except the various undead, of course.

Well nobody forces me to do it. Wait, that is probably not what you meant, right?

I like the idea of using a wiki to document the world. That's very cool.

I can't take credit, I got the idea from Gabe of PA.

Yeah, I've stolen a few ideas from Gabe. He's pretty creative and has come up with some really neat stuff. I think I actually found out about Obsidian Portal form him, which was the wiki page I have setup for my campaign.

So for Halloween weekend this year, my group will be running the 4th Edition version of Tomb of Horrors. The plan is to turn the lights off, light a bunch of candles, have the Diablo II soundtrack playing in the background, and see how many players can get killed in a 4 hour time span. We decided to go hardcore for stats. You roll 3d6 and that's your strength, do it again for CON, and continue down the list rolling each stat in turn. I ended up with 17 Strength and 17 Charisma and a whole lot of nothing else, so I think I'll be going in as a paladin.
