Goths in the Machines Science Mastermind (Robotics/Dark Miasma)

Quote:
Megan Sinclair grew up in a shadow of her parents’ socialite lifestyle. Ignored for most of her life, her only companion was her imagination. It wasn’t long into her elementary schooling that Megan began showing disdain for the rather slow teaching methods of her teachers because she was so far ahead of her “peers” in the areas of math and science. By age 12, she had latched on to theory behind cybernetics like the one friend who would never leave her. She attended Crey’s Institute of Robotics when she was 15 and there her life changed for the worse. While she was quite adept at the school, her loneliness ate away at her being.

She began hanging around the local Goth-girls who seemed to get what her life was like. She unknowingly had stumbled upon a small coven of sorceresses. The eagerly took her in and began teaching her how to wield the powers of the negative planes. Her receptiveness to these manipulations filled a rather large void in her life that she never knew existed, but there was still a small gap that gnawed at her. The solution was discovered when she received news that Mina, one of her coven sisters, was dying from cancer of the liver. Her life gained new purpose in the hopes that she could find a way for a conscience or soul could be transferred into an electronic format to be saved and even interacted with until further advancements would transfer it back to a host body.

Before finally being able to finalize her research, the Institute was hit by a Sky Raider party which resulted in responses from both Crey’s personally security force and any Supers who might be in the area. The final result came with deaths, injuries and imprisonments. Crey sold out those that were involved in exposed classified research as renegade scientists. The next two years spent in the Zig had warped Megan’s personality beyond redemption which helped focus her mind on the task at hand… returning her sisters from beyond the grave. After the Arachnos attack on the Zigursky Prison had released her, Megan’s research was finally put into practice when she was able to acquire materials for her prototype necroborg. After spiritually traversing the negative planes their souls resided, she was able to pull Mina's soul back and implant it upon the necroborg. Now she is working her way to resurrecting her remaining sisters... to exact revenge on those who removed them from her to begin with.

This won’t mesh fully with what I have typed in the characters in the game since I’m doing it from memory and fleshing it out much further than I have space for in the game. But this is the cannon backgrounds and supersedes what’s written there. Arctic Hellfire's is expanded and updated from the first time I played.

Arctic Hellfire’s background (Magic Origin Ice/Fire Blaster):
Quote:
In a dimension of magic and sorcery, a great Evil escaped its prison and crossed to our world, creating a link between the two dimensions. The journey tired it greatly and it entered a deep sleep, preventing it from wreaking havoc upon our world. The powers in that dimension, unable to cross into our world without suffering a similar fate, created a magical amulet that would seek out a champion of our dimension. It would lay dormant until it sensed a native of our dimension with a pure enough heart who would be able to use that amulet to tap into the powers of it's native dimension and protect our world, should the Evil ever awake. Centuries passed.

It was in the 1990’s when evil mages from our world stumbled upon the slumbering Evil, and strove to wake it. At that same time, average teenage girl Michelle McDaniel literally stumbled over the ancient amulet created centuries ago. The amulet sensed her pure heart and awakened, connecting her to the mystic energies of the dimension that created it as well as it's creators. They bestowed upon her magical power to fight evil. Through a series of adventures which included gaining allies who could also share this power, Michelle and her new friends spent the next several years fighting against that evil. In the end they managed to sever its dimensional ties, rendering it powerless and easily defeatable.

There were still other villains to confront, but by this time Michelle had graduated high schoo. With the main threat eliminated, she was ready to attend college and move up from being just another magical girl to a hero in her own right. She passed on the mantle of leadership to one of the other girls and left her hometown for college in Paragon City. She enrolled there through their “Cry for Heroes” scholarship program, which gave her full college tuition, including room and board, if she used her heroic identity to help the people of the city. Once there she registered as a hero, updating both her look and her name in an attempt to move from her “childish” heroic identity.

She attended college and fought crime there, making a few heroic allies along the way. However it became apparent that, due to the sheer numbers of heroes in the city, the civilian populace was becoming entirely dependant upon heroes to solve all their problems. Heroes in this city didn’t seem to be inspiring regular people, instead they seemed to be making them complacent. For her, the final straw was watching police officers flee in terror from a group of reckless thugs victimizing an innocent civilian. They didn’t try to help, or even call for help. They just ran away and, once they were far enough away, they acted like they had never even seen the incident, since those kinds of thugs were typically dispatched by Heroes. It sickened her to see that happen and as soon as she could she ended her career in Paragon city. Saying goodbye to her few friends and taking her degree, she moved back home.

She spent a couple of years back home, working odd jobs, studying the mystic arts as best she could, and helping her old teammates out when they needed it. Compared to Paragon City life was slow. She found herself missing the non-stop action of a city almost perpetually in crisis. After two years she was contacted by a friend who stayed in the city and asked to come back and re-join them. During their conversation Michelle found out that many of the people of Paragon City started to actually fight back in their own ways. Parts of the city were even finally being rebuilt and cleaned up. But despite all the efforts of everyone involved, crime was rising. There just weren’t enough heroes in the city to keep up with the rise in villainy.

So it was that Arctic Hellfire returned to Paragon City, rejoining friends both old and new to continue the fight against crime and evil. She no longer sees her time in the city as wasteful. She finally feels like she’s making a difference.

Malorna’s background (Science Origin Psi/Psi Dominator):
Quote:
When they were still teens both Tanya Skelt and her older brother, Alex, were selected by a powerful corporation to undergo a process that would grant them super powers. They accepted and became part of a larger team which fought for good under the direction of the corporation. Everyone’s powers were different, but the process had the curious effect of halting everyone’s aging process – leaving them stuck as teenagers for the rest of their lives. Calling themselves Teen Psyche (Tanya) and Shieldsmith (Alex), they became part of the New Champions and fought crime around the country.

After almost 3 years a power shift occurred within the corporation, and the new leadership decided the team they had created was an unnecessary complication they no longer wanted to be associated with. Subtly and with malicious intent they separated the members of the group and in one swift stroke attacked, killing almost all of them. Teen Psyche and her brother were together during the attacks but at a critical moment when Shieldsmith could’ve intervened to save her life, he chose not to and instead fled to save himself.

Shieldsmith escaping their carefully planned execution and being out of the corporation’s control was unacceptable. In an effort to gain leverage over him, they retrieved Teen Psyche’s body and resurrected her. Dying due to her brother’s inaction changed her completely once she awoke, however. Filled with confusion and anger the corporation had no trouble directing all those negative feelings towards her brother. They spent weeks on her, twisting her conflicting emotions about her brother into pure hatred.

When Shieldsmith did finally confront the corporation he was completely unprepared to face the sister he let die. Her relentless attacks kept him off balance, caused much collateral damage and eventually forced his retreat. She left to follow him and the corporation would have pursued the matter further if not for the timely intervention other heroes, who discovered what happened and brought the crooked leadership to justice.

Teen Psyche has discarded her heroic identity and any ethics she once had. Calling herself Malorna now she lives only to exact vengeance upon her cowardly brother. She delights in committing crimes and acts of evil, using her powers to control others’ minds to sinister effect. Having lost her brother’s trail she settled in the Rogue Isles for now; hoping that by staying in the public eye she can flush Shieldsmith out of hiding and finally take her revenge on him. Every hero she defeats she tells the same thing to: “Tell my brother that I will never stop until he faces me. If he dares.”

Tokobauzsos' background (Natural Origin Dark Melee/Reflexes Scrapper):
Quote:
Almost nothing is known about Tokobauzsos. His real name, how he acquired his special gifts, or even where he hails from all remains an enigma. Some say he was a stage magician who joined a ninja clan in order to learn their mystic secrets, and left once he became their master. Others say he is a magical spirit who, restless after death, studied the mysterious ways of ninjas and magicians and in doing so learned the secret of resurrection. Another theory one might hear is that he somehow personally trained under Momochi Sandayu, Ehrich Weiß and Johann Faust, learning all their secrets and outliving them all.

Like all conflicting stories, the truth lies somewhere in-between, or perhaps in a different direction entirely. Tokobauzsos merely smiles at any story claiming to be of his past and states he's simply a "Magic man of mystery."

I apologize for the length. I got started and couldn't stop.

Fire-Kat, aka Katherine Thomston (Mutation Fire/Fire Tanker)

Part I : Love is a Strange Thing
Quote:

"You'll live again, Cinder," thought Oliver Thomston as he slaved over the massive machine. It had been four years and some odd months, but he remembered every detail as if it were five minutes before... The dirty, rusty machines of evil creating deadly neurotoxin, the soldiers of the fifth column making attempts to destroy the evidence of their plot, the smoke building up at the ceiling, and of course, the beautiful heroine on the scene to save the him and the other kidnapped scientists. She was magnificent, raining fire and brimstone upon the forced of evil. He was in love. She blasted a hole in a nearby wall and lead the former captives toward safety when she heard the recorded voice over the loud speaker. It didn't matter if they spoke German or not, that was a countdown that they didn't want to be around for the ending to.

As quickly as the beautiful red haired woman had entered his life, she had been quickly ripped out. While escaping down a corridor, the first explosions rocked the building and a wall exploded before them into a pile of steel and concrete, fulling the hallway with dust. Sticking out of the pile, their savior's limp form lay. The other scientists hurried past, but Oliver could only stare. The other only thought of their own safety, "I'm sure telling themselves that it was her job to die, if she must, for their rescue," he thought. Tears ran down his face. Why did he feel this deeply for a woman who's real name he didn't even really know? It should have been him who died, or better, one of those fleeing rats who didn't give a damn about her. For the next moment, he didn't know where he was or why he did what he was about to did. He just... did it...

Oliver reached out and removed the black mask that covered her eyes. "So beautiful," he thought as he gazed upon her true face. He grabbed a handfull of her hair and a sharp piece of metal and cut a lock of her red mane. He kissed her forehead and placed the lock of hair in his left breast pocket. He ran through the explosions until he saw sunlight. He hadn't seen sunlight in sixteen days. To him, it was the second most beautiful thing his eyes had ever held. He didn't stop to bask. There was no time. He fled the scene as fast as he could.

He scanned the news for the next few days for missing persons reports, hoping that he would find out who his true love who had been taken away had really been. It had taken a while, but he caught the end of a report on the evening showing of the news showing a picture of the woman who's image had embedded itself in his heart. Her name was Gloria McComb. Glorious Gloria. He had checked into others, ones described without a picture or had low quality police sketches, he found that sometime there were crime scenes that were hard to infiltrate. He began that night preparing himself for the his chance, it may be a long while before he could get close enough to see what kind of person glorious Gloria.

It took four nights, but he finally managed to access the her apartment. Oliver wasn't suprised at all at what he had found. It was a clean house, of course, like his own. It appeared she lived alone... not accounting for the fact that there was an empty dish on the floor in the kitchen. There was no proof that she secretly risked her life for the sake of others. No proof at all that the woman Oliver had seen had been a hero at all. She looked like she was a normal woman living alone with an animal. In her bathroom she found a liter box that had been cleaned for the last time, probably by a mourning family member after her disappearance who took the cat. He, himself was not a cat person, per se, but he didn't mind them. They were sometimes interesting creatures to watch. In the bedroom that had appeared to be the guestroom, he found a bit of a mess. Photo albums and pictures had been strewn about the bed. Her close friends and family probably sat in here looking at photographs and reminiscing over their beautiful Gloria they had lost.

One photo caught Oliver's eye. He smiled as he looked at it. There sat his smiling glorious Gloria, with her wonderful eyes looking upward to a cat perched upon her head looking back at her. The cat had long fur the same color as her hair. As a matter of fact, it was hard to tell where her cat's hair ended and his love's hair had begun. He wished he could share that moment with her. He carefully placed the picture in his pocket. They would have been perfect for one another.

Over the course of the next few years, he had begun dabbling in genetics. The way Oliver figured, he was a genious at chemestry, genetics was just substances specific in the body. He managed to get himself hired by Crey Industries, where he worked on the parts of project, not knowing what he was making as a whole. By taking parts home, he had constructed a large metalic womb. "A fiery phoenix reborn anew!!" he'd think to himself as he worked into the night. As he worked he wondered of his first meeting with his love. Would she love him as much as he loved her? One day, about a month, it had occured to him that Gloria would be reborn again as a child. He had been so blind with excitement that he had never considered that, how could he be so blind!?!? Perhaps it was his unnoticed insanity that had shaded his eyes from this simple fact. It was certainly lunacy that drove him. Then a thought occured to him. What if what he created was a child that would be their own. A mixture of the two of them, created by his love for her. She would have loved a child, he was sure of it!

Though he didn't delve into the genes as much as he would have liked to, he was after all a curious scientist who loved learning what made things tick. He decided to make it a secret to himself. It was glorious Gloria's mysterious guise as Cinder that he fell in love with after all. His machine, while crude, took weeks to take and assemble the random DNA samples from her hairs he had taken, it seems there was a slight anomaly, but that was no suprise, she was a mutant. Oliver's hairs still took a week and a half, but was much faster. Then, there was the assembly of the two DNA sets into one, slightly randomized sets. Just that alone took three weeks. It's amazing that this crude hunk of metal could emulate this process, he thought, but it's even much more amazing that the human body did this naturally and didn't have to take up half of his basement to do it.

Once the DNA was assembled in a cell, he began the long waiting process. One cell became two. Two became four. Four became eight. He watched and scanned and carefully probed the health of his tiny miracle of life. The machine detected some unexpected test results at times. The child within was possibly a mutant and the machine was made from spare parts, so the occasional buzzers were of no suprise, the internal temperature detector being one in particular. At one point it said that the child was reading a boiling 245 degrees fahrenheit. Maybe it was better that their child was born in this manner.

Oliver had read, that reading and talking to, and even playing music for a baby still in its mother's womb was "good for it's development". He thought it was hogwash, personally, but he took no chances. His son or daughter was within this machine. When the child was ready, he would be the father of his love's child. He owed his glorious Gloria that much. He knew their child would be as glorious, it was Oliver's responsibility to raise her to be as such.

As luck would have it, at work Oliver had stumbled upon an interesting secret that he wasn't supposed to know. Knowing that his supervisor would be in a load of trouble if the company ever found out and the Crey would be in a load of trouble if the authorities ever found out, he did what anyone in his position would do. Make a bribe. All he asked of his supervisor was that he would be able to work at home. As long as he performed all of his research, he would receive his pay as normal. It took two days to set up the rest of his basement as a lab. All was perfect. Soon, his child would be born and he would be able to stay home and raise him or her.

To be continued....

Well some how this is what I ended up with for ManRam.

Quote:
Name: Prince Gruumond
Alias: ManRam

Prince Gruumond or the Ram-People is the eldest son of the house of Shelnog.

The Ramrataz, or Ram-People as they are known to the general public, have called the deep valleys of the Rocky Mountains home for as long as human history can recount. The earlies records of them exist in Native American folklores that give hints to occasional contact between the two groups throughout time. Often these accounts consist of a small child or woman being saved from certain doom by a "Ram-like" being.

The earliest written record of them can be found in the recently discovered secret diaries of Lewis and Clark from their trek across the United States in the early 1800's. In them both Lewis and Clark recount how their camp was attacked by a Ram-like being in the middle of the night. While it was shot several times nothing seemed to slow the beast, which killed two of the party's members in a matter of seconds. The diary goes on to say how they too would have most likely perished if it hadn't been for a second Ram-like being stopping the first. The second one appeared just as suddenly, charging out of the darkness. It slammed into the first at amazing speed with its horns. This sent the first hurtling 50 yards through the air, over the edge of a cliff, and into the darkness below. The second being turned and looked at them for a moment before leaping off into the darkness once again.

Over the next 150+ years very little was heard from the Ram-People. While recently leaked records show that the American government was in fact aware of their existence ever since Lewis and Clark's expedition, it appears that the general public had no idea of their existence. How the Ramrataz were able to keep their civilization, estimated at around 50,000, hidden from both the general public and modern technology is still considered unknown, although some have suggested it is a combination of technology and supernatural forces.

When the existence of the Ram-People was initially leaked in 1982 the public took it very badly. Due to the relative lack of knowledge about the entire situation the mass media was able to spin the story to their liking, resulting in massive public outcry against the Ram-People. The federal government, in an attempt to satisfy the public, moved to put the Ram-People under "protective custody" for the safety of all. This resulted in the Great Ram War.

While the Ramrataz were initially caught off guard by the unprovoked attack, based off the philosophy of pre-emptive war, they quickly gained the upper hand. The United States military was completely unprepared for their inability to contain the Ramrataz within a set geographic location. This was devastating to the United Sates military which had been counting on their ability to simply use the army to contain the Ram-People and then have the air force relentlessly bombard them until they agreed to enter protective custody.

Within 48 hours of the start of the fighting the army began to experience sporadic attacks at the back of their lines. Elite Ramrataz fighters would appear as if out of no where, destroy equipment and kill or injur a large number of soldiers before the army could respond, and then they would simply disappear into the mountains again.

By all accounts the Ramrataz could have continued to strike the army with "guerrilla warfare" type tactics for as long as they wished. For some reason though they instead decided to switch to a full on frontal assault.

While the Ramrataz are extraordinarily resilient and powerful they can be brought down if enough damage is done to them. It is estimated that the Ramrataz had a force somewhere between 15-20 thousand, going up against the American containment force of 200,000.

The next 24 hours were the bloodiest in American history. When the fighting ceased the American forces had been completely decimated with close to 140,000 dead or injured. By comparison the Ramrataz are estimated to have sustained 5,000 dead or injured. Beyond that the Ramrataz elite forces were sent out with the specific task of targeting high level field commanders. This resulted in the complete decimation of the American army's field command structure.

The Ramrataz were also aware of the chance that the American government would turn to less "conventional" means of warfare if given the chance. As such the Ramrataz took over 10,000 U.S. troops as prisoners.

The result among the American public may have been the most astounding thing of all. While they wanted action taken against the Ram-People they were not prepared for all out war. Public backlash against the government was immediate and widespread. The federal government, fearing for their own lives, quickly realized that they needed to end the war and secure the freedom of their troops.

The resulting peace deal between the two sides resulted in the United States government having to pay reparations to the Ramrataz, the Ramrataz being recognized as a foreign nation, and them being granted an enormous portion of the rocky mountains with all rights as a free nation. In exchange the Ramrataz released all 10,000 prisoners.

Over the next 26 years relations were formalized and slowly improved between the two sides. The Ramrataz allowed a limited number of humans to even enter their territory in an effort to ease public fears about them as a people.

In 2007, in order to ensure lasting stable relations, the King of the Ramrataz appointed his eldest son, Prince Gruumond, to be the Ramrataz's official ambassador to the United States.

Prince Gruumond was astounded at the crime and abuses of the law he saw all around him upon entering American society. He quickly realized that the best way to improve relations between the two people's would be to help the heroes of Paragon in protecting those who could not protect themselves.

The media quickly dropped the Prince's official title and instead began calling him ManRam.

ManRam, when not full filling his official duties as ambassador can be found on the streets of Paragon city protecting the innocent.

I guess mine are just never short.

Quote:
Name: Gravvex
Alias: Timothy Reigns

Dr. Reigns was a gifted scientist and entrepreneur. He founded Reign Enterprises, a world leading corporation in the aerospace industry.

Timothy’s life had been going very well. He had just recently become engaged to his chief research assistant, Sarah, with plans to be married within the year. Also, his company had just finished designing the proto-type Gravitational-flux space suit or G-Flux Suit for short.

Dr. Reign had recently discovered away to manipulate gravity over distances, allowing him to change the specific gravity of an object without regards to the object's actual mass.

By incorporating this technology into a space suit it allowed for varying effects, including; flight without conventional means of propulsion, greatly miniaturized life support systems, generation of protective shields, and manipulation of gravity over a great distance.

Dr. Reign had planned on unveiling the suit to the general public at a press conference within a few weeks of its completion. Unfortunately he never got a chance.

One of the many criminal organizations within Paragon City had placed spies within many of the local, high tech industries, in the hope that they would be able to steal any new technologies which could be of use.

One night, Dr. Reign and his fiancé were pulling an all nighter working on creating a power generator using the same gravitational technology as the suit used. As the worked they suddenly heard the voice of one of the junior assistants behind them, "Turn around nice and slow!”

The spy, who they knew as Dan, demanded that they give him the suit. As he nervously stood there pointing a gun at them, the generator made a sudden, loud bang! The sound startled Dan so much that he accidently fired his gun, hitting Tim's fiancé in the stomach.

Seeing this Tim exploded in rage and rushed the Dan. Just as Tim went to grab the gun, Dan squeezed off another shot, missing Tim but hitting the control panel for the generator behind him.

As the two of them fought for the gun they ended up standing directly next to the generator. Just as Tim tore the gun from Dan's hand the generator exploded, sending both of them flying through the laboratory.

Dan was killed instantly, as he hit the far wall. Tim however, while unconcious, continued to breath, although just barely.

Tim's fiancé, while mortally wounded, had managed to avoid the blunt of the blast due to one of the laboratory tables between her and the generator. She did however see Tim and Dan get thrown across the room.

As the room began to burn around her, she slowly made her way over to Tim. She checked his vitals and found that he had a pulse and was breathing, both were very weak though. As the fire continued to get worse around her, she realized that there was no way she could get both of them out of the building in time. It occurred to her that the only way to save Tim would be to get him into the G-Flux suit and allow its life support systems to save his life.

She worked as quickly as she could, while still slowly bleeding to death, and got the G-Flux suit from its storage locker. With her last breaths she managed to get Tim into the suit, turn it on, and activate its personal protective shield.

Sarah collapsed onto the ground next to Tim as another explosion ripped through the laboratory, causing the building to come crashing down around them.

Some time later Tim awoke with a start, amazed to find himself inside the suit and in total darkness. In the distance he could hear the sound of faint voices. Just as he was about to activate the suit's lights, the ground shifted around him, and the debris above him was suddenly pulled away by a hero which he didn't recognize.

As his vision adjusted to the sunlight, Tim looked around him, first noticing his laboratory and a large portion of his building destroyed. Finally his eyes moved to his side. Tim immediately screamed out, "Nooooo!" upon seeing the body of Sarah, broken and lifeless.

This was the start of Tim's career as the hero named Gravvex. He vowed to make Sarah's killer and those like him pay for what they had done!

Tim also managed to create a smaller life support system to keep him alive without the suit, allowing him to keep his secret identity, and thus fund his war against the criminal organizations that had murdered his true love.

Another Zombie (villain, Brute, Super Strength / Dark Armor)
Quote:

It is rumored that this creature of the undead first appeared shortly after Lord Recluse came to power on The Rogue Isles. Whether that is true or not will most likely never be known.

To the casual eye this creature appears to be nothing more than a simple zombie, destroying all that crosses its path. The few that have attempted to learn more about it, and survived, claim that there is more to the creature than there appears though.

Unlike "normal" zombies the creature seems to be drawn to destruction in general instead of simply being drawn to the living. The creature also exhibits the most basic of communication skills and has been known to assist other villains who share its goal of destruction. Another difference from other zombies is this creatures ability to move with considerable speed and agility when motivated. Finally the creature seems to have some mystic qualities to it and has strange dark markings on both of its legs which have been associated with dark wizards and warlocks throughout time.

Still waiting on part 2 Leedon.

Most of the rest of my characters I only have quick concepts for, no fleshed out stories.

-Will X: Brooklyn Bouncer/Street Tough who discovered one day that he was quite tough enough to handle superhuman amounts of punishment, and could generate energy from his fists to smash into his foes. Generally serious.

-Fire Sentinel: Supersuit inventor, took his invention and used it to fight crime instead of letting it be mass produced and marketed. Has a carefree attitude.

Identification Number: [MKv153-LWMD] {AR/Device/Munitions Mastery}
Code Name: [Mega Kittie]
Subject's Name: [ニア]

"Mega Kittie" is a Chimera Nanoid, originally created as a "Living Weapon of Mass Destruction". Her genes seem to have been manipulated, giving her feline like characteristics. Her skeletal system, and nervous system, seem to have been altered by technology never seen in modern science. 80% of the technology that is implanted in her is still yet to be known, because of this, her motor skills are on levels that are incomprehensible. Embed somewhere in her brain, there is a very powerful Nano computer, that helps aid her brain with controlling the vast amounts of technology within her, but can also be programed to intercept her natural train of thought, making her a slave to anyone with the knowledge of her "Programming".

Mega Kittie cannot seem to recall a clear memory anything about her past, despite the ability to document data just like a computer in her Nano computer. The furthest she can remember is back 2 years, when she woke up in a laboratory, with several scientist examining her. She remembers a voice describing several events, and what seemed to be an Electro Magnetic Pulse emitted from her body, which seems to be a key reason for her data lose, ultimately "Reseting" her "Programing" giving her control over her basic thought patterns.
