Holy frack, i just saw the miniseries. This is some of the best sci-fi I have ever scene. I never saw the original series, but since this is a re-imaging, all I miss out on are a few tributes to the original.

I guess all I have to say is, if you have not seen it yet, you need to. As an example I'll call it a cross between Bablyon 5 and Sea Quest (without the dolphin).

Eh... doesn't sell it for me. What made me like BSG was the following:

- It was dark... how can you portray the destruction of mankind by it's creation anything other than this?
- Space battles were awesomely well done.
- They made Cylons more than just "Terminators".

This new series sounds nothing like what BSG is about. To me it sounds like a soap opera in the future... I might give it a few episodes to hook me, but the premise is just plain "blah" in my eyes.

I think that is a frighteningly astute observation.

No no no no no no fraking gods no!

Though, it seems as though it won't have the shaking camera so maybe my friends with motion sickness can finally sample the brand.

So I finally figured out why I didn't like this. My aunt, for some reason that I'm still not sure of, had the original (as in 1970's) show on video. I remember watching it when I was young and thinking it was a poor attempt at copying Star Trek.

Anyways, I saw the new episode the other night and thought it was pretty cool. I may have to catch up on the earlier ones that I missed.

That could be the case too. What I'm sure of is that it imprinted on my brain for about 20+ years the idea that Battlestar Galactica sucked.

Yeah, well you suck. Battlestar ruled! Maybe you're thinking of Battlestar Galactica 1980, which did, indeed, suck. Terribly.

Could be. I think the video is still at my parents house from when we borrowed it however many years ago. I'll try and remember to take a look and see which one it is next time I go back to visit.

They weren't kidding - this season is the best. It's really difficult to maintain a series as consistently as they have, and they one up'd it by making each season even better than the one before. And they know when to quit. Much respect to the writers and producers and everyone else who made this thing possible. For once, TV was done right.

I thought the most recent episode was great.

Yes. They could screw up every episode remaining, and I'd still be satisfied with the series.
