I read a preview of CoV which had one section that concerned me:
Quote: | The only potential snafu is the price model. Nothing is set in stone, but if you own City of Heroes you won't get to play City of Villains for free. There will most likely be an additional monthly fee. (Just how much that is going to be is not yet known.) You won't need the original game to play City of Villains; it's a standalone game that just happens to blend itself in with the original. |
The preview has info on how they are doing CoV which had a lot of neat things. Unfortunately, CoV looks to be PvP dependant so not sure how that would appeal to those like Mongo. But the above statement is a big turn off to this game for me. It makes sense in a way, as CoH and CoV ARE two different games, but since they are linked together... I just hope they come up with a plan that you pay a (drastically) reduced price if you subscribe to both games. _________________ Come join the fun! Quote: | DEATHFORCE: There are certainly crazy things you can do with this game, you can generate a world that is 3 times the size of earth before it starts having errors, although I dont know how long it would take to generate a world that large anyways lol
TRASSIN: I'm guessing about 21 days? Assuming you take a break every 7th day or so. |

An e-mail in Glistam's spam folder wrote: | Last night we announced some BIG news. City of Heroes® subscribers will pay no additional monthly fee to play City of Villains™. For City of Heroes® players who purchase City of Villains™, simply add the City of Villains™ serial code to your existing City of Heroes® account using the UPGRADE button on your PlayNC™ account management page... and set off for The Rogue Isles™! To do this, be sure to follow the instructions for 'Existing City of Heroes® Account Holders' on the City of Villains™ pre-order instruction page.
City of Villains™ is also available as a stand-alone game. Players who do not own City of Heroes® and players who choose not to upgrade their existing City of Heroes® account will pay the full monthly fee (same price structure as City of Heroes®). |

Self-Bump, due to retail release:
Pinnacle server
We have supergroup, and the humble beginnings of a base. The name? 3.V.I.L. of course. (Working title is "3 Villains International, LLC. We're taking offers for better. Especially when we get more than 3 Villains.)
K3llion: Bounty, Threat Level 11 Merc/Trick Arrow Mastermind
Fyredancer: The adorable Kittyn, Threat Level 2 Necromancy/Dark Mastermind
Haven: Terror Angel, Threat Level 7 Psi/Psi Dominator
CoV is a serious upgrade to CoH. Bases and PvP are just the tip of the iceberg. The 5 new Archetypes don't play anything like the Heroes. Missions and mob AI are much improved. They added Ragdoll physics... much fun with knockbacks and Levitate.
There's also a 'Create your own' mission thing, where you take articles in the paper, and come up with your own schemes. Bounty's there, I'm not big enought o try this out yet.
At 15, you can get into the free-fire PvP zones, and duke it out with the goody-goody types.
Villains are capped at 40 right now, heroes at 50. My money is still on the bad guys. An average level 10 Villain is offensively far more powerful than a level 10 Hero. We'll see how this plays out in actual combat (Especially against someone like Mongo's "Immovable Object" of a Force Field defender). On the downside, no full-time healers. The baddies get most of the Defender buff sets as secondaries (Corruptor AT) but Empathy isn't a choice.
So! I'm not ready to give up WoW (I WILL hit 60, damnit.) but this is great for when I just wanna go break shit. Highly recommended if you have the time and money. _________________ "Awareness" just means you're conscious while the buggering takes place. We need awareness and murderous revenge. |

Well I didn't know it was already running. I won't pick it up for at least another month though because I am back out in about a week. _________________ Oh, holy fuck!
