I started playing this a bit. It's interesting so far. I haven't seen any skeletons yet but I'm afraid of them, which is fun.
My computer seems to be having trouble with the load of running it, which is pretty shameful.
I was looking at the sales... 460k. Dude, that guy is making bank on this. _________________ You are the result of 4 billion years of evolutionary success.

No skeletons (that I know of) just zombies and Creepers (creepers are the green scary guys). You'll run into them as soon as you go out at night or start mining deep underground. Haven't been playing much, but finally found some Redstone, Gold, and Diamond _________________

I'm having fun with this. I don't think I've seen a skeleton yet, but the documentation sites like minepedia talk about them. I've seen zombies, creepers, and spiders so far.
A Halloween update is going to come out allowing you to take a portal to Hell.
I've got redstone coming out of my ears, but only 2 diamond. Gold doesn't seem that useful. What I really need is lots of iron. I've started building my first rail line, which plummets down into the planet's small intestine, where I'm mining. It sure makes the trip down go faster ; )
I also made my first piece of obsidian, but I don't have a diamond pick to mine it and I accidentally destroyed my lava source. I found a tip online allowing you to use 2 water sources to create an infinite number of them. I wonder if that works on lava? _________________ You are the result of 4 billion years of evolutionary success.

Oh, and what I came here to post:
The marketing message that came up on Minecraft for me this morning was:
"Down with O.P.P.!"

Fuck me. I died in lava and lost a bunch of stuff, which isn't so bad (except the full iron armor). The real problem is that I just don't know where my shit is from the spawn point. I don't think I even spawned in the same place. _________________ You are the result of 4 billion years of evolutionary success.

skeletons are probably the hardest to deal with in large numbers, trying to take our a skeleton spawner is dangerous work. |

In theory these are the instruction for constructing a portal to Hell.
http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Portal
Also, if you haven't seen it go to youtube and search for the boatavator. Holy shit I want one.
Anyone tried multiplayer yet?
Also, for those skeleton spawners you might consider constructing a skeleton killing machine around it - there are a couple good designs that will drown the skeletons and then flush the arrows safely out to you.
Also also, dying from Creepers is funny. Especially once I realized all my stuff would be there when I got back. I finally got unlost and figured out how to get to my buildings from my spawn location. Death is not so scary now. _________________ You are the result of 4 billion years of evolutionary success.

Went to the Nether today (Hell renamed.) It's kind of cool, but very dangerous and I haven't figured out if it's good for anything yet.
Last time I died there when I came back there was an additional portal in the Overworld. Based on it's location, I think a portal appeared to take me back to the spot of my death more directly. This is interesting because the elevation changes in the Nether seem more dramatic, so I'm guessing it's common for your death portal to appear in the sky or underground. _________________ You are the result of 4 billion years of evolutionary success.

Anyone still playing minecraft I was playing the other day and having a ball. Lots of cool mods and texture packs out now to spruce up the game I just installed a mod that has a lumberjack that goes and chops down trees for you, it is pretty brilliant. |

Notch just moved up a step in my book:
http://notch.tumblr.com/post/9038258448/hey-bethesda-lets-settle-this
Back story(Someone correct me where I'm wrong):
Dude invented minecraft, made sick amounts of cash.
He hired some people and they started working on another game named "Scrolls"
Bethesda (Creators of Elder Scrolls) sued them because "Scrolls" is too close to "Elder Scrolls"
So now, he's challenged them to a Quake off to settle the lawsuit.
I like it, mostly because if they don't do it they end up looking like complete asshats. They sort of look like complete asshats for suing him anyhow. |

Mojang won the lawsuit with Bethesda and gets to keep the Scrolls name. Glad to see big rich company doesn't succeed at pushing around the little guy. _________________ "The problem with quotes on the Internet is the validity of them." -Abraham Lincoln |

So I finally started messing around with Minecraft. I've been meaning to but just never got around to it. If I'd realized earlier how intricate you can make some of the objects, I probably would have started so much sooner.
I was blown away. Once I started messing with designing circuits for redstone I was hooked. I changed the name of my world to Deep Thought and am working on a design that will trigger a photocell at sunset and initiate a countdown timer until sunrise. Whoever thought all those Nuke school class lectures on JK flip flops would even come in handy for a video game. Only thing I'm trying to figure out still is how to display it. I could possibly use a bunch of glowstone on pistons to act as a 7 segment display, but haven't figured out exactly what I want to do for it yet. |

No one has posted here for a bit so I figured I'd try some forum necromancy. I have a server up and running on my desktop. If anyone is interested in checking it out I can PM you the IP address. I have a few of my friends from Charlotte that play there and then Hooper from the TR hops on there whenever the server that Immyls is running is down. I've got a pretty good setup around the spawn point with a skeleton farm for xp/arrows/bones and then I built an actual mobspawner for a good source of gunpowder. A full stack of TNT can do beautiful things to the landscape. I also wanted to try out some of the new fireworks that they put in the last update. |

Sounds fun. My time all seems to be keeping my server up these days, and never playing it... I mean, i do play a bit, but it seems disproportionately small. My computer has some stability issues with Java. It doesn't crash, it just decides to quit every so often. _________________ A west bean pays the fish a soup. |

Clinton was telling me I should come visit your server and check it out. Mine stays up pretty much 24/7 but I don't use my desktop for much besides that. |
