So what's going on with this game, how much are people playing, anything exciting to report?

It's getting better, they made things a little better so far. I would personally wait till the Nov or Dec update. Those updates are supposed to address a lot of the issues really plagueing the game. My biggest dislikes are the amount of time it takes to switch between menus(its so slow its retarded) and the targeting glitches. randomly after playing for an hour or so, I lose the ability to target, it wont let me cycle through targets and only selects the closest thing to me. The only way ive found to fix it is to completely logout of the whole game and restart.

I personally threw in the towel. There are things I liked about the game and a lot of problems that I have no doubt will be fixed in the coming updates.

But, to me, the game just seems to be missing something. I can't put my finger on it, it just doesn't seem to have a soul in the same way that FFXI did. When I realized I was getting bored faster and faster I came to the conclusion the game just wasn't entertaining enough for me to justify the amount of time it wants be to invest. Don't be fooled, this game really is no more casual than XI, everything still happens at a snail's pace once you get past rank 10 or 12.

Any new updates? Has the new team managed to patch in "fun" yet?

There was an update this week, sp increases, a few tweaks to DoL animations to speed things up, improvements to dialog boxes, better search in the market wards.

Fun is subjective. I've been enjoying it all along. Very Happy

No, I'm not in a big linkshell, but being the social misfit I am, and playing ffxiv like an off-line rpg with some really unusual "NPC" "AI", I haven't felt the need to seek out a larger group. Both my linkshells have 20-25 people on their lists, but it's rare to see even 5 on these days.

Yes, I'm enjoying it, but am spending a lot more time in FFXI. I'm making slow progress, but it's very steady and I can do what I want when I want and don't have to rely on others to be able to get things done. I really am enjoying making nearly everything I need out of things I've gathered myself, though some of the crafting levels are a bit weird. For example, I was able to make all the parts of a jacket I wanted, but then couldn't put them together until I got another level on my weaving skill. You'd think stitching parts together would be easier than creating the components...

That doesn't sound like Final Fantasy Online at all...

That's because it's Final Fantasy Online Two.

She's right and it sounds so good in theory. However, I think most people will agree (myself included) that FFXI is a vastly superior game.

Big update on the way with lots of interesting changes. I'm considering picking this up to fool around with a bit.
